VAUXHALL ASTRA VAN WITH WORLD CLASS AIR BRUSH WORK. 2001 'Y' Reg. This is a unique opportunity to own this amazing Astra van which has been air brushed by Stuart Forster, a professional who works worldwide producing the ultimate in this art. He has worked for high profile clients including MTV, Sony, and currently Aston Martin. This Van was Stuarts own vehicle and has been used to demonstrate his amazing capabilities to clients. It has also won awards at shows for obvious reasons. However, this astonishing piece of art is now for sale. In Stuart’s own words. I chose the theme of Sin City as I was working on a black canvas and this suits the theme of the film. It took me three months to plan out the placement of the characters as composition is paramount with airbrushing. All of the images were drawn freehand using a pencil for the outline and then all freehanded in. There were no stencils or cut masks – this is old school airbrushing, how it’s meant to be done. All pictures are executed to an extreme level of detail – largely known in the business as Hyperealism. This means that you can see all the texture, ripples and stubble on Bruce Willis’ face, you can see all the jewels and embossed leather on Nancy’s belt. You also have attention to detail like Gail’s hair spans from the back of the van over the B-pillar of the door. The front of the van is painted in what we call True Fire – this is a layered system of building up fire using lots of different colours and then tinting them using transparent paint of Kandy. Its take a long time to build sufficient depth and make the fire look alive. I painted this to look like its very fast moving fire, a bit like the van has just driven through a bonfire and carried on going. It has the base colours of yellow, orange and red with the added tints of transparents and the exotic colours of iredescents, pearls and sapphire colour shifting pigments. The whole van was given six coats of the highest quality House of Kolor Lacquer which was then rubbed back and polished up to a mirror finish. You can see in the pics the clarity of the reflection – which makes a bit of a challenge to get good pics without looking like a mirror. There is literally too much to list here, but if you commissioned this amount of air brush work it would cost in excess of £20,000. As for the van, it is a 1.7 litre diesel with an Alpine sound system and 18 inch rims. Nothing else matters! Bear in mind you are not buying a van, you are buying a piece of artwork!
